The 2024 Daytona 500 is the biggest race of the NASCAR Cup Series season that also draws one of the biggest entry list of the season. The official 2024 Daytona 500 entry list doesn’t come out until a week or so before the Daytona 500 but the current list of open (non Chartered) cars continues to grow. In November RFK Racing announced the new Stage 60 program that will field a third car in a limited schedule in 2024, starting with the Daytona 500. Former Roush-Fenway Racing (now RFK Racing) driver David Ragan will be behind the wheel. No. 62 of Anthony Alfredo for Beard Motorsports. On December 20th 2023 Anthony Alfredo and Beard Motorsports jointly announced the No. 62 will enter the Daytona 500 and the first Talladega race on April 21st with driver Anthony Alfredo. Beard Motorsports will also enter the second Daytona and Talladega races later on in the season with a driver to be announced. No. 78 of BJ McLeod for LiveFast Motorsports. In 2024 LiveFast Motorsports will run a part time schedule as an open car after the team sold its Charter to Spire Motorsports as announced back in September. McLeod plans on entering the No. 78 car into all six of the superspeedway races in 2024. He added Live Fast could run select road course events, should it find the right driver. BJ McLeod will be the driver of the No. 78 when the team rolls into Daytona for qualifying and duels. Confirmed as of January 19th is Legacy Motor Club Co-Owner and seven time Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson, who if entered would be in the No. 84 Toyota. This would be the first time Jimmie Johnson had driven a Cup Series car that was not a Chevy. In 2023, Jimmie Johnson returned to NASCAR as the Co-Owner of Legacy Motor Club where he drove the No. 84. Jimmie starter 41st and finished 39th in the 2023 Daytona 500. Carvana will serve as primary sponsor for the Daytona 500. Other teams and drivers that are TBD as of the beginning of January are NY Racing, The Money Team and Kaulig Racing. Kaulig Racing has entered a third Cup car periodically, but no word if they will for the 2024 Daytona 500. The Money Team’s No. 50 ran the 2023 Daytona 500 with driver Conor Daly where he started 34th and finished 34th. The team has commented that they would like to enter five to eight Cup Series races in 2024. The Money Team hopes to field a full team me entry in 2025, Chartered or not Chartered. Riley Herbst is another driver who could end up entered into the 2024 Daytona 500. In the 2023 Daytona 500, Riley Herbst drove the No. 15 Sunny D Ford for Rick Ware Racing where he started 38th and finished 10th. Options could be limited for 2024 unless he works out a deal with RWR again or if Front Row Motorsports would field a third entry with help from Stewart-Hass Racing.
