Underdog Spotlight for the #DAYTONA500 : Today’s the #DAYTONA500 and it is the great equalizer for the underdog teams. Because it’s the 500 we are going to feature 3 underdog teams:
#16 Justin Haley-Kaulig Racing
#62 Brendan Gaughan-Beard Motorsports
#66 Timmy Hill-MBM Motorsports.
On Sunday February 9th the Daytona 500 Pole Qualifying saw the #16 of Justin Haley and Kaulig Racing lock themselves into the 2020 Daytona 500 on speed. This is also Kaulig Racing’s first NASCAR Cup Series Race as a organization. This however is not Justin Haley’s first Cup Series Race as he won the 2019 Coke Zero 400 at Daytona in July in the #77 FOE Chevy for Spire Motorsports.
Brendan Gaughan and the #62 Beard Oil / South Point Casino Chevy also qualified his way into the Daytona 500 on speed. Brendan announced this past off season that this will be his final Daytona 500 and final Cuo Series season as he’ll run both Daytona and Talladega races Cup Races before hanging up the helmet for good.
The #66 MBM Motorsports of Timmy Hill will run is first Daytona 500 as he raced his way into the Daytona 500 in Thursday’s Blue Green Vacations Duel 2.

#16 Justin Haley-Kaulig Racing P13
Justin Hayley and his #16 FOE Kaulig Racing Chevy finished in 13th place in the first ever Cup Series race for Kaulig Racing. Before the Daytona 500 Hayley was the last winner at Daytona when he won the 2019 Coke Zero 400 with Spire Motorsports #77 FOE Chevy.
#62 Brendan Gaughan-Beard Motorsports P7
Gaughan finished in 7th place in the Daytona 500 mailing it his and the team’s highest finishing position to date in the Daytona 500. Brendan has 3 races left, Talladega in the Spring and fall as well as back at Daytona in August before hanging up his NASCAR helmet for good.
