As the 2020 NASCAR Season comes to an end, silly season has been in full effect.
It was announced that Tyler Reddick will move up to the Cup Series in 2020 driving the #8 Chevy for RCR leaving its current driver Daniel Hemric with a ride. On Wed November 13th it was announced that Hemric would head to JR Motorsports to drive 21 races with Jeb Burton driving 11 races and Dale Earnhardt JR driving his 1 race a year in 2020
Friday November 15th it was officially announced that Cole Custer will be promoted to the Cup Series in 2020 to drive the #41 Ford leaving Danial Suarez without a Cup Series ride and no other current plans in any series. Daniel says he was completely blindsided by this as his management team and him were close to finalizing the funding needed.
Like Hemric is doing, could Suarez step back down to the Xfinty Series in 2020? Rumors circulating that Suarez could go to Richard Childress Racing’s Xfinty operation presumably in the #2 with options to run select Cup Series Races. This leads us to our story tittle, The Elliott Sadler affect.
Elliott Sadler, a NASCAR Cup Series veteran was in a situation where his current Cup Series team in 2010 was not working out and led to Elliott looking for other options. Sadler joined Kevin Harvick Inc. full time in the then Nationwide Series to drive the #2 full time and part time Trucks for KHI. Soon after KHI’s operation was absorbed by RCR. Elliott Sadler’s career was rejuvenated when he stepped down from the Cup Series and began winning on a regular basis and contending for Championships.
It will be interesting to see where Suarez could land in 2020. Current Not Announced Cup Series teams that have yet to announce their line ups are:
Go Fas Racing #32, Front Row Motorsports #36 and #38, Rick Ware Racing #51, #52 and #53 (JJ Yeley in a RWR entry announced). That being said, “competitive” Cup Series rides are taken, as of now.
