Coming off a 16th place finish at Daytona, Corey LaJoie went into the Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington with momentum.
The No. 7 Schluter Systems, Spire Motorsports Chevy started 25th Sunday and finished 14th in Stage 1. The No. 7 Team worked their way up to the top 10, ultimately finishing 10th in Stage 2.
Just after the final stage began, Parker Kligerman and Dale JR on NBCSN gave Corey LaJoie some great TV time and discussed the run LaJoie had at Daytona and Darlington. Dale JR “One of the most impressive things is they lost a lot of track position mid way through this race and usually that would be the end of the night for one of these smaller teams. They’ve been able to battle back and is fighting in the top 10 battling for 9th against Tyler Reddick”
Corey and the No. 7 Team fell back towards the end of the race but ended up finishing 15th in the Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington.
At the checkered flag Corey LaJoie had this to say over the radio “I don’t even care where we finished. Best race of the year.”
Based on the math, Corey LaJoie and the No. 7 Spire Motorsports Chevy should start around the 25th position on Saturday September 11th at Richmond Raceway.
